Wellbeing
Wellbeing at Edwardstown Primary School
At Edwardstown Primary School, we believe that when children feel their best, they learn their best. Student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do – it shapes our relationships, our learning environment and the way we teach. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive community where
every child feels valued, connected and empowered to thrive.
Each year begins with our EPS Ignite program, two weeks dedicated to building connection and belonging. During this time, we intentionally focus on developing strong relationships, creating safe and inclusive learning environments.
We establish consistent wellbeing practices before formal academic learning begins. This sets the tone for a positive and connected year of learning.
To support ongoing wellbeing across the year, we offer a range of targeted programs and initiatives. In 2026, we are embedding The Resilience Project into our weekly timetable, with every class participating in a dedicated wellbeing lesson each week. This program focuses on gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness, helping students build emotional literacy and resilience through practical, evidence-based strategies. https://theresilienceproject.com.au/2026-school-wellbeing-program/
Our Zones of Regulation framework complements this work by providing a shared language for recognising and managing emotions across the school. Students learn to identify their feelings, understand triggers, and use strategies to return to a calm and focused “green zone.”
In addition to these schoolwide approaches, we provide a range of targeted supports, including:
-
- What’s the Buzz social skills program, taught in a targeted small group setting.

- Story Dogs, with Ann and Alfred helping students build confidence and joy in reading.
- Wellbeing SSO support, offering small group or one-on-one sessions triaged by leadership.
- Workshops and incursions, including the Be Brave program and transition sessions with Headspace, supporting students through key stages of change.

Together, these initiatives form a whole-school approach to wellbeing – one that nurtures emotional awareness, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging. At Edwardstown Primary, we are proud to be a school where wellbeing and learning go hand in hand.
