After School Sport
At Edwardstown PS we provide opportunities throughout the year for children to be involved in after school sports. We consistently have high participation and positive feedback about the sporting experiences and contributions of our teams.

Who can play? Receptions to Year 6

Edwardstown Primary School After-School Sport Guidelines
Objectives
- To promote participation, enjoyment, and personal development through sports.
- To uphold the school values of Doing Your Best, Respect, and Care and Compassion.
- To ensure a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
School Responsibilities
- Maximise participation and organise coaches, referees and team managers for each sport.
- Work alongside sporting associations to ensure smooth registration procedures.
- Communicate details of the registration process clearly to coaches and families.
- Ensure all volunteer coaches have up-to-date RAN-EC training and Working with Children Checks.
- Follow up and address any behavioural or organisational issues.
Players’ Code of Behaviour
- Participate with enthusiasm and have fun.
- Represent Edwardstown Primary School with pride, reflecting our school values.
- Play by the rules and show respect to teammates, coaches, other teams, and umpires.
- Thank coaches and umpires after each game.
- Demonstrate good self-management and positive behaviour.
- Encourage teamwork and treat all players with respect.
Parents’ Code of Behaviour
- Encourage positive participation and focus on enjoyment rather than winning.
- Teach children the importance of losing gracefully and winning with humility.
- Support the learning of rules and good sportsmanship.
- Model healthy lifestyles and refrain from smoking / vaping on school grounds.
- Recognise and appreciate the efforts of officials and volunteer coaches.
- Direct grievances to the EPS team’s coach/manager or the school, following the After-Hours School Sports Grievance Policy.
Coaches’ Code of Behaviour
- Foster a fun and inclusive environment for all players.
- Be reasonable in demands on children’s time and abilities.
- Teach and reinforce the importance of rules and sportsmanship.
- Provide equal opportunities for all players to participate.
- Address mistakes as learning opportunities.
- Direct grievances to the relevant sporting association in consultation with the AH Sport Coordinator/School Leadership.
Formulation of Teams
- The school will collect registrations at the beginning of each new season.
- Players who do not register by the due date may not be placed into a team.
- After the due date, the school may seek further registrations to fill, complete, or balance teams.
- Teams will be formulated to maximise participation.
- Where possible, the school will consider requests to place students in teams for transport, supervision, and social reasons, but there is no promise or guarantee to meet specific requests.
- Team placements are final once announced.
Consequences
- Failure to adhere to the Codes of Behaviour may result in suspension or exclusion from school sports for players and parents, or removal from the coaching position for coaches.
Payments
- All payments for after-school sports must be made by the specified due dates.
- Failure to pay invoices by the due date may result in students being unable to participate in sports activities.
- Students with unpaid invoices may not receive certificates and medals at the end of the season.
Review Period
These guidelines will be reviewed annually to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
